Braciole with Pepperoni
Braciole is a classic Italian dish, and adding pepperoni gives it a flavorful twist. Here's how to make it!
Ingredients
For the Braciole:
- 1 pound thinly sliced beef (flank or round)
- 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley , chopped
- 4 garlic cloves , minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper : To taste
- 4-6 slices of pepperoni
- Olive oil : For drizzling
For the Sauce:
- 2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper : To taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Filling
- In a bowl, mix together breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
2. Assemble the Braciole
- Lay the beef slices flat on a clean surface. Evenly distribute the breadcrumb mixture over each slice.
- Place slices of pepperoni on top of the breadcrumb mixture.
- Starting from one end, tightly roll up each slice of beef. Secure with kitchen twine or toothpicks.
3. Sear the Braciole
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the rolled braciole until browned on all sides (about 3-4 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
4. Prepare the Sauce
- In the same skillet, add marinara sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
5. Cook the Braciole in Sauce
- Return the braciole to the skillet, spooning some sauce over the top.
- Cover and let simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, turning occasionally until the beef is tender.
6. Serve
- Remove the twine or toothpicks before serving. Slice the braciole into pieces and serve with the marinara sauce over pasta or with crusty bread.
Tips
- Make Ahead : You can prepare the braciole a day in advance and let it marinate in the sauce overnight for extra flavor.
- Variations : Feel free to add other ingredients to the filling, such as chopped olives or different cheeses.
Enjoy your delicious Braciole with Pepperoni!
