These Ooey Gooey Bars are deliciously sweet and perfect for any dessert lover. Here's a simple recipe to make them!

Ingredients

For the Base:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter , melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar , packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (or your favorite type of chips)
  • 1 cup shredded coconut (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal.

2. Make the Base

  • In a large bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.
  • Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Gradually add flour and salt, stirring until just combined. Don't overmix.

3. Bake the Base

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly soft.

4. Prepare the Topping

  • In a separate bowl, mix together sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and nuts (if using).

5. Add the Topping

  • After the base has baked for 25 minutes, remove it from the oven.
  • For the topping mixture evenly over the base.

6. Finish Baking

  • Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the topping is golden and set.

7. Cool and Serve

  • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.
